Master of Malt

Description

Wanted! Senior Digital Product Designer

To design industry leading, well considered digital user experiences for our Retail (Master of Malt) and Trade (Master of Malt Trade) websites, from initial idea to high-fidelity UI.

About Us

We’re a multi-award-winning drinks, E-com and technology start-up on a mission to disrupt the drinks industry.

We’re re-imagining online drinks retail from the ground up, using cutting edge technology and fanatical customer service to build a company we want to be customers of and create unexpected delight as we help people explore, buy and enjoy high end whisky and other spirits.

In everything we do, we are disruptive innovators; it is baked into our DNA to challenge orthodoxy and received wisdom wherever we find it.

We’ve grown a lot since we were just a few kids in a shed with big dreams, but we haven’t lost our hunger to build something great, and we’re looking for people who have the same passion for making things better to join us on that journey.

In the last 10 years we’ve become the number 1 player in our industry, but we’ve barely gotten started. We’re excited about the future, so if you’d like to come and help us build it, read on!

The day to day role

You’ll own the Design process from start to finish – from initial conversations, diving into the details to figure out a plan, discuss all the relevant stuff you see fit with stakeholders and do any background research that’s necessary.

You’ll communicate well with internal and external stakeholders to collaborate and bring them on the creative journey with you, providing unexpected delight along the way. Going into the right level of complexity for the type of project (and the timescales available!), you’ll have the creative licence to try new things, see where boundaries can be pushed and find ways to circumvent limitations.

Create journey maps, experience maps and storyboards (we tend to use Miro).
Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs ready for handover to our development teams (we use Figma and the Adobe suite)
Communicate design ideas and prototypes to internal stakeholders and developers.
Create design specifications and define the visual design language.
Tackle complex design problems in simple and intuitive ways, to build great experiences.
Take briefs and turn them into plans/reality, prioritising different jobs in accordance with deadlines.
Build pages in our page making tool (knowing basic CSS would be a bonus)
Help us to define our research and testing process
Recognise areas for improvement around the business, Initiate conversations and help implement solutions
Offer knowledge sharing, support, mentorship, and provide inspiration to those in your team – helping each member develop and improve.
Take in briefs, see opportunities to improve design at Atom and make sure our designs are delivered at a high-level of quality and on-time.
Effectively prioritise work that is aligned with business goals
Collaborate with other teams across departments and manage stakeholders
Oversee and contribute to the overall improvement of the UX design quality and capability within Atom
Know how to best tackle complex challenges and understand the various components that make up the design and development process.
Know how to look for opportunities to improve and expand design on our retail and trade platforms, recognising that it’s a combination of strategic and incremental changes.
Ensure quality, speed and an interactive approach for design deliverables from the design team
